Kalooki Strategy - Developing your memory

One of the most important assets of a Kalooki expert is a good memory.

You should try to develop the ability to remember which cards your opponents have discarded and drawn. Only then will you be able to outplay them.

On many occasions, I've seen players lose - and be penalised heavily - because they were mistakenly waiting for a card that I knew had been discarded early on in the game.

I don't need to tell you that if you do this, you'll never win. It may well be that the card you want is halfway down the pile and it's just a matter of waiting. But make sure you KNOW before you wait.

Knowing which cards are left in the pack - or more importantly which cards AREN'T left in the pack! - plus which ones are in your opponents' hands can give you a kind of 'sixth sense' and ensure that you don't present gift discards to your opponents. Like Bart Simpson said, it's a whole new way of 'cheating'!

There are a number of ways you can improve your memory, but it's probably beyond the scope of this website to cover them here. Instead, I've listed below some of the books that have been of use to me.

You can buy them direct from Amazon by clicking on the 'Buy' button(s). They're only a few quid, but they'll repay you many times over, I promise!
